Privacy Policy
TuitionList collects and uses personal information in accordance with applicable UK data protection laws, including the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
TuitionList collects and stores account, profile, enquiry, and verification information so tutors and tuition providers can be listed on the platform and parents, carers, or students can contact them.
Information we may collect includes names, email addresses, phone numbers, profile details, location information, subjects, levels, rates, qualifications, DBS-related information, safeguarding training details, insurance information, uploaded documents, enquiry messages, technical information, and account activity.
We use this information to operate the directory, manage accounts, review profiles, process enquiries, maintain platform safety, prevent misuse, respond to support requests, improve the service, and comply with legal obligations.
Our lawful bases for using personal information may include contract, legitimate interests, consent, and legal obligation, depending on the purpose for which the information is used.
Parent, carer, or student enquiry details are shared only with the relevant tutor or tuition provider and authorised TuitionList admins. Tutor contact details are not shown publicly unless the tutor chooses to display them on their profile.
Uploaded verification documents are stored privately and should only be accessible to the relevant tutor or tuition provider and authorised TuitionList admins. These documents must not be made public. Tutors and tuition providers should only upload documents that they are entitled to provide.
Where possible, TuitionList may review certain information or evidence provided by tutors and tuition providers. Any badges, blue ticks, or profile labels are intended to show what information has been self-declared, seen, or confirmed by TuitionList.
TuitionList does not sell personal information. We may share information where required by law, where necessary to protect users or the platform, or where needed to provide the service through trusted technology providers such as hosting, database, storage, email, analytics, or security providers.
We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including operating the platform, handling enquiries, maintaining records, resolving disputes, meeting legal obligations, and protecting users and the platform.
Users may have rights under UK data protection law, including the right to access their personal information, request correction, request deletion, restrict or object to certain processing, request data portability, and withdraw consent where consent is used as the lawful basis.
Users may contact TuitionList to request access to, correction of, or deletion of their personal information, subject to any lawful reason we may need to retain certain records.
If users are unhappy with how their personal information is handled, they can contact TuitionList first. They also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK data protection regulator.
